Yes, your local law enforcement agency would need to subcribe to the service in order for your Digital Siren mobile app to work.
When the computer is powered on the DS software program should load automatically. A display will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. Verify that it shows connected to the portal and GPS is connected and the "dongle" is lit.
Unplug the "dongle" from the laptop and replug.
Click the "up" arrow in the bottom tray. Click the "PA" logo if displayed. If it still does not load, right-click the "PA" logo in the tray, then click "exit" to exit the program. Then click The "PA" logo on the desktop to reload. If not displayed in the tray, load from the desktop as just mentioned.
Ideally, end the shift by closing the DS application by clicking on the up arrow in the bottom tray, right-click on the PA logo and click exit. This ends the shift in the portal. Patrols are considered "stale" after 12 hours. So, after 12 hours, an existing patrol will be marked COMPLETE and a new patrol will be created. This will only happen when data comes up from the patrolling vehicle, though. So if an officer leaves his computer on with the app running, and the PC goes to sleep and therefore doesn't send up any signals to the backend, that patrol will still be active on the backend until the next time the PC wakes up and sends the next signal to the backend. When that next signal comes in, the backend will realize that the patrol has been active for more than 12 hours and will automatically end the current patrol and create a new one.
YES. The software will not run and you will not be able to send alerts if the computer is in sleep mode.
